A person has suffered “potentially life changing” injuries in a serious crash that shut a Wiltshire A-road for hours.
Emergency services rushed to a two-vehicle collision on the A4 at Quemerford, on the outskirts of Calne, shortly before 2pm on Wednesday, April 10.
Police say a passenger in one of the vehicles suffered injuries that are described as “potentially life changing.”
The busy road was shut for around four hours while emergency services worked at the scene, with motorists diverted around Blackland Park.
Two fire crews from Chippenham were in attendance and during this time they freed one casualty from a vehicle by removing the roof with Holmatro cutting equipment.
Five other people involved in the crash were able to exit their vehicles independently.
Fire crews then stabilised the vehicles and ensured the scene was left safe.
Police say no arrests were made in connection with the incident.
A spokesperson for the force added: “At around 1.50pm on Wednesday, April 10, we responded to a two-vehicle road traffic collision on the A4 at Quemerford.
“A passenger in one of the vehicles suffered potentially life changing injuries.
“No arrests were made.”
